Progress Report October '21

October 31st, 2021

On the upside of things, it’s Halloween, which is my favorite holiday (if it can be called such a thing). Unfortunately, I’m feeling a bit sluggish due to a little bug that latched on last week and won’t seem to do the polite thing and simply fuck right on off. I had a whole post written after this line, fueled by self-pity and a runny nose, but then I torched it. I’m upright, breathing, and I get to make shit up and write it down. I am grateful for that.

I’m plugging away at the next book. I’d very much like to write a trilogy, so I’m studying strategies to do just that. I plan to be more deliberate in the approach and execution of my upcoming work. Hopefully, that will bring about cleaner storytelling with fewer revisions and a tighter turnaround time.

I mentioned leaning toward a pure sword and sorcery type of book in my last post, and things still seem headed in that direction. I’m not a guy who likes to entertain multiple concepts all at once, for fear of having a bunch of mediocre ideas instead of one splendid development, so I can say with near certainty that the next tale will be High Fantasy. Stay tuned, stay safe, and Happy Halloween everyone!
