Well, I’m a couple of days later than usual with this update. But while digging through the mire of the interwebs, trying to unearth those rare, helpful gems, I read that blogging is dead (for authors, at least) and nobody is reading my posts anyway. So, that’s a relief. From here on in, my updates with look like this:
All work and no play makes Sean a dull boy. All work and no play makes Sean a dull boy. All work and no play makes Sean a dull boy…
Just kidding. As usual, the month has flown by, and on the writing front, I’ve spent most of it doing my personal round of editing on both Deicide (book #4) and Downfall (book #5). I’m happy to say that I completed both tasks and sent the manuscripts to my advanced reader team.
Once the advanced readers tell me their thoughts, it’ll be time to make some adjustments based on feedback (hopefully, not too many) and then send both manuscripts off to the masters for a round of professional editing. Of course, while that’s happening, I’ll have my graphics dude working on the covers for both books.
I can’t make any promises, but it looks like a tentative launch date for books #4 and #5 might be somewhere around March 2022.
I try not to layer much of anything with my own expectations—I find it keeps me less susceptible to the lowest of lows, as well as shielding me from getting too cocksure when something goes well. Balance is worthwhile. But I feel good about both books and the story overall. It’s bittersweet to see the D-Evolution come to its conclusion, but I’m looking forward to whatever’s next.
Speaking of the next project…
I’m still trying to develop a promising plot, and I have several subgenres that I’m considering (all of them still firmly in the SF/F arena). But so far, the most developed concept is a High Fantasy tale (straight-up swords and magic, without technology). We’ll see what happens in the next few months as I try to ferret out more ideas. Stay tuned.
