It seems like every time I look up from whatever book-related thing I’m wrenching on another month has passed. Decline (book 2) came back from the proofreading editor this month, and then I combed through it several times to make sure the polish was as shiny as I could make it. Dishonor (book 3) is now with the proofreading editor, due back the first week of July, and I can see the light at the end of the editing tunnel.
I also took the time to touch up my website a bit. The book sample pages for Deceit and Decline both received an update to reflect the finished manuscripts, and I added the ability to download them in various file formats. I also noticed that the addition of last month’s progress report kicked the blog pagination controls into effect, and I needed to make some adjustments so they looked nice on mobile devices. There was also a bit of screen wobble or jumping (something developers lovingly call ‘scroll jank’) when changing pages, and it took me a little while to smooth things out.
Deceit is in the final stages of production, with the eBook now formatted and ready to go. I’m waiting for physical proofs of both the paperback and hardcover versions to arrive so I can page-check them and give a last nod of approval. Decline and Dishonor will get similar treatment starting in July, and once everything is polished to a mirror shine, updated, chanted over, blessed, and finally approved, I’ll be ready to send this little story of mine out into the world. And it only took me fourteen and a half years to do it. Better late than never, I suppose. Stay tuned.
